Kevin Lemieux is an experienced trial attorney who seeks out trials in lieu of settlements. Kevin graduated from California Western School of Law, where he attended on an academic scholarship. After a couple years of doing civil litigation, he joined the San Diego Alternate Public Defender, and later the San Diego Public Defender where Mr. Lemieux went about the business of representing indigent parents accused of child abuse or neglect. To truly help people in their most desperate moments, he thinks, affords an attorney a depth of satisfaction rarely found in one’s job.

In 2010, Kevin became the Supervising Attorney of the Primary Parent Office at the Dependency Legal Group of San Diego. His office was responsible for the representation of the “most offending” parent in all dependency cases in San Diego. He represented 1200 to 1500 clients at any given time, with a staff of 15 lawyers and 4 investigators, in 7 courtrooms across San Diego County.

In 2016 Kevin joined the firm of Hyde and Swigart as “Of Counsel,” focusing on children’s rights cases and civil rights claims for those who are often the most vulnerable in our society. These cases have included representing the children of a man killed in police custody, representation of a mother who had her 4th Amendment rights violated by Child Protective Services (CPS), representation of injured children and foster children, and representation of parents unfairly targeted by CPS. Kevin also represents consumers who have been the victims of harassment and unfair business practices.

Kevin is a Child Welfare Law Specialist and is certified by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) as a trial skills instructor. He is now a faculty member at NITA and a lead faculty member for the Juvenile Law Society and Advocacy Training Center where he teaches trial skills seminars to other lawyers. He is also a regular speaker and presenter of Continuing Legal Education programs and in community outreach regarding juvenile dependency and CPS issues. He lives in San Diego with his wife and two sons, where he enjoys coaching and refereeing youth soccer.

Hyde & Swigart has helped thousands of consumers in Minnesota, California, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, Colorado, Michigan, Texas, Illinois, and Washington DC with their legal issues, and we have never seen two cases that were identical. You should never assume your situation is the same as something that is described on this web site, or that you read elsewhere on the Internet. Each situation is unique, and in our opinion, each situation needs to be thoroughly and independently reviewed by a competent consumer rights attorney. While we are happy to do that for you for free, we cannot do that solely on this web site. Even our evaluation forms are mere starting points. You should never assume your case, your situation, or your set of facts, are covered in their entirety by this web site. If you have questions about your potential case, we will be glad to discuss them with you at no charge. However, do not act, or fail to act, simply because of something you read or see on this web site. Click here to read more.
